In *The Prince*, he advocated for a pragmatic approach where fear, neutral justice, and the strategic use of religion secured stability, while emphasizing that true patriotism required establishing rule of law over arbitrary tyranny. Although initially circulated as a secret job application to the Medici, the work eventually evolved into a foundational text for secular statecraft after surviving centuries of censorship and the distortion of Machiavelli's true patriotic intent.
