Current mental health systems struggle with diagnostic ambiguity and payment barriers that leave one in five Americans untreated, resulting in premature mortality and a $3 trillion global economic burden. To address these systemic failures, experts propose shifting from subjective symptom scales to a data-driven framework utilizing passive monitoring and quantitative biomarkers for early, personalized intervention. This approach aims to expand access to Coordinated Specialty Care, accelerate drug approval through regulatory reform, and integrate workforce innovations to break the cycle of chronic disease and incarceration.
