Led by Andreessen Horowitz, MatterLabs has secured Series B funding to deploy its ZK-Sync platform, which utilizes zero-knowledge rollup technology to multiply Ethereum's transaction throughput by fifty while retaining Layer 1 security guarantees. Co-founders Alex Glukowski and Alex Vlasov engineered a ZK-EVM that enables seamless compatibility with existing Solidity smart contracts, effectively overcoming historical computational barriers to make complex decentralized applications like social networks and games viable. The company's dual-architecture strategy pairs high-security ZK-Rollups for asset storage with the lower-cost ZK-Porter for high-frequency transactions, aiming to transition blockchain infrastructure from a speculative "digital gold" model to a programmable global computation layer.
