While recent clinical advances have extended survival for metastatic patients to a decade or more, experts emphasize the urgent need to de-risk academic discoveries through nonprofit incubators and standardized liquid biopsies to prevent early-stage cancer from progressing to terminal stages. Strategic recommendations from industry leaders and researchers prioritize patient-centric trial design and sustained basic science funding to ensure these breakthroughs reach community oncologists and avoid investment withdrawal from other critical therapeutic classes.
