With 56% of C-suite executives planning acquisitions within the next year, the current M&A landscape is defined by robust activity in transactions under $5 billion and the energy sector despite hesitation over mega-deals due to U.S. and European regulatory uncertainty. Strategic buyers are prioritizing top-line growth and innovation through acquisitions of niche technology firms, while private equity activity has shifted toward co-investing models as club deals above $5 billion have vanished. Although geopolitical tensions and tax reform ambiguities continue to complicate cross-border valuations, pent-up demand and a stabilizing regulatory environment are expected to drive record volumes in the coming years.
